Websites & custom software Fort Mill, South Carolina

Turning rough ideas into fine work.

Millworks Digital is a one-person studio that builds websites and custom software for businesses across the Carolinas. You work with me directly, from the first conversation to long after launch.

What I build

Two kinds of work: the things your customers see, and the tools your team uses behind the scenes.

For your customers

Websites and stores that represent your business well and are easy to use.

  • Business websites

Designed and built from scratch around your business.

  • Online stores

Storefronts and product catalogs that make browsing and buying simple.

  • Sites you can update

Your staff can change text, photos, and pages without calling me.

  • Redesigns and speed fixes

New life for an existing site that looks dated or loads slowly.

For your team

Custom software for the work that happens behind the counter.

  • Dashboards and business tools

Internal apps that put your numbers and daily tasks in one place.

  • Workflow automation

The repetitive steps in your process, handled automatically.

  • Integrations

Connect the software you already use, so information moves between systems without retyping.

  • Maintenance and support

Fixes, updates, and new features after launch, from the person who built it.

Recent work

A site that helps a band get booked, and a site for a security software company.

The AudioVox homepage: the band's logo over a dim, neon-lit bar stage, with buttons to book the band, watch them play, and see upcoming shows.

Website · Charlotte, NC

AudioVox (opens in a new tab)

A website for Charlotte's 90s rock cover band, built to help them get booked. Fans and venues can check upcoming shows, request a booking, browse photos, and find the band on social media.

The Actme Software homepage: the headline Access Control Technologies Made Easy beside an illustration of a hand holding a key card up to a reader.

Website & software · Physical security

Actme Software (opens in a new tab)

The company site for Actme Software, maker of Actme.IO and Actme.ER. Both products put a simple, permission-aware layer on top of access control and video evidence retrieval, so everyday staff can use those systems without being security specialists.

How a project goes

Four steps, and you're involved in each one.

  1. Talk it through

We start with a conversation about your business, your goals, and who the site or tool needs to work for. Design starts once that's clear.

  2. Plan it together

I map out the structure, content, and look, and we review it together, so nothing is a surprise once building starts.

  3. Build in the open

You see progress as it happens, with regular check-ins along the way.

  4. Launch and keep going

Your site or tool goes live, and I stay on to fix, extend, and support it as your business grows.

Why a millstone

Fort Mill grew up around a grist mill on Steele Creek and later became a textile-mill town. It was built by people who made things that worked, and kept working, for a long time. The stone on this page is modeled on a millstone from Webb's Mill that's on display in town today.

A millstone does one job, every day, for years. It takes rough grain and turns it into something people can use. Millworks Digital holds its websites and software to that same standard, and every project is built carefully by one person you can actually reach.

Team
One person, one point of contact
The Millworks Digital millstone, modeled on the Webb's Mill stone in Fort Mill, with four parts numbered: the eye, the furrows, the lands, and the skirt 1 2 3 4
  1. The eye. Grain goes in at the center. Every project starts with what your business needs.
  2. The furrows. Channels cut in sets called harps carry the grain outward. You have one person and one line of contact the whole way.
  3. The lands. The flat faces between the furrows do the grinding. That's the steady, careful part of the build.
  4. The skirt. Near the edge, the stones run closest and the grind comes out fine. That's where the details get finished.
